After a short security check at Hong Kong Airport, we went straight to “The Wing”, Cathay Pacific’s flagship lounge. On one side of the lounge is the Business Class lounge, on the other the First Class lounge. We quickly showed our First Class boarding pass and took the elevator to the second floor.
There is another small welcome desk with the infamous lounge dragons, which ask you to go left to the Business area or right to the First Class area. First Class Lounge
If you go to the right into the First area, you can immediately see why “The Wing” is so famous. Set up as an open-air lounge, you have a wonderful view across the entire terminal building to the tarmac where the planes are milling about. You can’t help but be amazed. The entire lounge is decorated in black and white marble, broken up by bright strips of light and a mix of red and maroon leather. Very clean and cool. The entire lounge can be imagined as a long tube divided into three main areas. First the buffet area with small sandwiches and salads, a larger area with lots of seating and a bar. Staff are constantly passing through here and offering drinks. Next to this is the self-service champagne bar. There is also a separate restaurant with service, toilets and, for those who want to freshen up, some cabanas – oversized bathrooms with a bathtub and day bed.
Passengers with a valid arrival/departure ticket for a oneworld or Cathay Pacific / Dragon flight or Marco Polo Club Diamond members have access to the First Class area.
Business Class Lounge
The Business Class area is of course even larger than the First area and begins on the first floor with a Business Center with computer workstations and shower rooms. On the second floor there are several small separate areas to the normal lounge: The “Noodle Bar”, the “Coffee Loft” and the “Long Bar”. With the exception of the Noodle Bar, the food selection on both floors is very similar: self-service buffet with sandwiches, cheese, bread, salad, fruit and a selection of hot dishes.
Access is available to Cathay Pacific Business or First Class passengers, Marco Polo Club Silver members booked on a Cathay Pacific or Dragon flight, Marco Polo Club Gold members booked on a oneworld flight, Marco Polo Club Diamond members regardless of flight and oneworld Emerald / Sapphire members booked on a oneworld flight.
