Before diving into my W Rome hotel review, let’s start with the essentials: this place is known for its bold design, prime location near the Spanish Steps, and genuinely attentive service—and after three days here, I get why. Some say the rooms are on the smaller side, but what W Rome offers in atmosphere, style, and staff engagement more than makes up for it.
Choosing this address on Via Liguria for our family trip wasn’t some gamble. It was a deliberate decision to see Rome through a different lens—modern, vibrant, and unapologetically cool.
Our journey from Fiumicino Airport took around 50 minutes, and the moment we arrived, the tone was set: luggage whisked away, warm greetings from the bellboys, and a hospitality standard that didn’t slip once.
Pushing through the understated entrance, I caught my parents exchanging surprised looks. They’d been skeptical… worried W’s design might be all flashy without substance. But the lobby alone proved them wrong: velvet seating in saturated jewel tones, neon archways, and an atmosphere that felt energetic but never forced. Spread across two 19th-century palazzos, the hotel’s mix of heritage and high design had them—my harshest critics—quietly impressed.
This is modern Rome at its finest.

W Rome Hotel Review: Location & Access
This secret gem off Via Veneto manages to keep you away from the tourist crowds while letting you easily dip in and out of the city’s energy. Perfectly positioned in the heart of Rome, all the landmarks you’d want to see are within easy reach: the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, and Villa Borghese are just a 10-minute stroll away.

W Rome Rooms: What to Expect
Our fourth-floor room, while not palatial in size, was a perfect fit for our short stay. The comfortable bed was a blessing after long days exploring the city. The bathroom equipped with a Dyson Supersonic hairdryer and W Hotel amenities by skin:regimen.
If you’re looking for minimalist zen vibes, this isn’t your place
For stays longer than a couple of nights, I’d recommend upgrading to a higher room category, but for our two nights, it was just right. My top tip: Request a room with a balcony overlooking the Swiss Institute.

Dining at W Rome: Breakfast & More
Let me set the record straight about breakfast – having read mixed reviews, we were more than surprised as the quality and quantity exceeded our expectations. Yes, the buffet appears compact at first but the included à la carte options AND additional sides like fresh cold cuts and cheese are more than you can manage in the morning.
Best thing – the coffee… absolute perfection! Perfectly crafted by a barista who understood his art.

W Rome Facilities: Spa & Pool
Our packed schedule in Rome prevented to experience the Away Spa. There’s also a rooftop pool to cool off in summer and enjoy the views of Rome which will be on our list for the next visit.

Service Experience at W Rome – effortless but Impeccable
Service level at W Rome was exceptional throughout our stay. Gennaro from the concierge team deserves a special mention – his help before our arrival was invaluable, securing us a coveted reservation at Roscioli that was supposedly fully booked.
Having experienced the Whatever/Whenever service before at W Koh Samui, I knew what to expect – and once again I have to repeat myself: it’s genuine hospitality in action, where every request is handled swiftly and with authentic care.
W Rome – worth the Splurge?
To wrap up this W Rome hotel review: it delivers what it promises in being special enough to impress critical parents and cozy enough to make me want to return.
